CAFOD

CAFOD values are drawn directly from Catholic Social Teaching and prayer and is inspired by Pope Francis through his encyclical letter Laudatio Si, meaning we should respond to the cry of the earth and the people.

CAFOD works with the world’s poorest people; works for justice and an end to poverty where social care and government structures are not strong; works in war zones and hard to reach peoples; responds to disasters and is a member charity of the Disaster Emergency Committee.

CAFOD responds to these needs in the following ways: through initiating campaigns for change at national level, which is disseminated to all dioceses and parishes in England and Wales. Family fast days are held in Lent and again during Harvest time; world gifts may be bought; fighting global poverty by raising the inequality of food in the world where possible.

Currently our parish has 3 volunteers and new members are very welcome to join. There are plans to hold fund raising activities in the parish, so we can respond immediately to crises. More members would help to raise the profile of CAFOD within our parish.
