Soup Kitchen

PETERBOROUGH SOUP KITCHEN is a local charity which has operated since 1983. Its aim is to ensure that the homeless and disadvantaged people of Peterborough get some hot soup, food and drinks, throughout the year, whatever the weather conditions.

At present Peterborough Soup Kitchen (PSK) operates from their kitchen in the Millfield Community Centre and distribute food by van. Soup, hot and cold drinks plus a variety of sandwiches are prepared in the kitchen and then taken by van to the Bright Street car park, behind the Brewery Tap pub in the centre of Peterborough, where people are served from the back of the van. Between 35-55 clients are served each day, throughout the year, whatever the weather conditions.

PSK has 24 teams of dedicated volunteers, with 3-4 members in each team, who operate on a rota basis. These teams provide food and drink 6 days per week, 52 weeks per year, Monday to Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons.

At present our parish provides two teams of volunteers to help. One team provides support on a Thursday night and the other team works on a Friday night. Both teams operate every 4 weeks.  Please see Steve Giblin if you are interested in joining a parish team.
